WhatsApp's click-to-chat links open a chat with a number without saving it as a contact first. The format is https://wa.me/ followed by the full international number: digits only, with no plus sign, spaces, brackets, dashes or leading zeros. Add ?text= and a message, and WhatsApp puts it in the chat box, ready to send. Customers don't need another app: WhatsApp on their phone or computer is enough.

The UAE mistake this tool fixes

UAE mobile numbers are written locally as 05X XXX XXXX. Put that into a wa.me link and it fails, because the leading 0 is only used when dialling inside the country. The international version drops the 0 and adds the country code 971: 050 123 4567 becomes 971501234567. The tool does this for you and also cleans up +971, 00971, spaces and brackets. Numbers typed with Arabic-Indic digits are converted too.

A pre-filled message, in English or Arabic

A short opening line tells you where the chat came from ("Hi, I saw your listing on…") and saves the customer typing. Arabic text is encoded so it arrives intact. Keep it short: the customer can edit it before sending, and a long message makes the QR code denser.

  • Your Instagram or TikTok bio, your Google Business Profile and your email signature.
  • Shop windows, receipts, menus and property boards, with the QR code.
  • Classified ads and online listings, so a customer can reach you in one tap.
  • Business cards: print the QR code, or put a WhatsApp button on a digital card.

Test the link from another phone before you print it.

A wa.me link does one job. A free Cardly.ae digital business card puts the same WhatsApp button next to call, email, your website and a save-contact button, in English and Arabic, and you can change the number later without reprinting anything.

Nothing you type here is sent to Cardly.ae: the link and QR code are built in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Do customers need to save my number first?

No. A wa.me link opens a chat with your number straight away, whether or not it's in their contacts. They just need WhatsApp on their phone or computer.

Why doesn't my link work with 050…?

Because the 0 is only used when dialling inside the UAE. WhatsApp needs the international number with no plus sign and no leading zero, so 050 123 4567 becomes 971501234567. The generator converts it for you.

Can the pre-filled message be in Arabic?

Yes. The message is encoded in the link, so Arabic text, emoji and line breaks arrive as you typed them. The customer can still edit it before sending.
