What a vCard QR code does
A vCard QR code stores your contact details inside the code itself, in the vCard format that iPhone and Android contacts apps understand: name, job title, company, phone, email and website. Point a phone camera at it, tap the prompt, and the phone offers to save you as a new contact. Nothing is looked up online, so it works even without a data connection.
Arabic and English names in one contact
Many generators assume a name in Latin letters. This one writes the contact as UTF-8, so Arabic names keep every letter, and you choose which language leads. The main name becomes the contact's name; the other is saved as its nickname, so people can find you by searching in either language. Name particles stay with the family name ("Al Mansoori", «بن راشد»), so the contact sorts correctly.
UAE numbers, fixed for you
Type your mobile the way you say it, 050 123 4567, and it's saved in international format, +971 50 123 4567, so it dials correctly from abroad and WhatsApp recognises it. Arabic-Indic digits are converted too.
Before you print
- Test the code with an iPhone and an Android phone before ordering prints.
- Print it at least 2 × 2 cm, dark on a light background, and keep the white border around it.
- The more you add, the denser the code. A name, one number, an email and a website scan reliably.
- Send the SVG file to print shops: it stays sharp at any size.
The catch: a printed vCard QR code can't change
Everything is baked into the pattern. Change your job, number or email and every printed code is out of date. A digital business card works the other way round: its QR code holds a short link to your card, so you edit the card and the same printed code shows the new details. A free Cardly.ae card also shows both languages, a WhatsApp button and a save-contact button.
Your details stay on your device
The code is made in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Cardly.ae or stored.
